Screen-Printed Electrodes, Gold (Au), 2 mm OD, No Reference (Gold trace), 6-pack
These low-cost, screen-printed electrodes (SPEs) are suitable for use in the teaching laboratory, biosensor development, and some electroanalytical applications, such as electrochemical measurements within a glovebox. These SPEs are fabricated using the same technology found in most blood glucose sensors. The electrode pattern includes a gold working electrode, a gold counter electrode, and no reference electrode (only the underlying gold trace). The substrate is alumina ceramic and the traces are insulted with borosilicate glass. These electrodes are compatible in non-aqueous solvents. These electrodes have a reasonably long lifetime, subject to how they are used in with what chemistry, certainly much longer than the carbon-based SPEs. If you do not already have it, the Screen-Printed Electrode Cell Starter Kit is required to interface these SPEs to a potentiostat. In addition, since these SPEs do not contain a reference electrode, it is advised to have an appropriate Low Profile reference electrodes on hand for three-electrode experiments.
