Counter Electrode Assembly, Platinum (Pt), 14/20
This Platinum Counter Electrode Assembly features a 6.9 mm OD epoxy handle, which terminates with a coil of 0.5 mm Platinum wire (approximate surface area = 4.7 cm²), seated inside a fritted glass tube by means of a 7 mm OD 14/20 PTFE adapter. This fritted isolation tube has a 12 mm OD to 14/20 adapter such that the electrode and fritted tube can pass through a 14/20 port and seal within the ground glass joint. Both adapters enable adjusting the immersion depth of the electrode and isolation tube. The fritted glass tube isolates the counter electrode from the main test solution. The fritted glass tube is not required for use and can be removed, for the platinum counter electrode to fit within a 14/20 port directly with its own adapter (included). This counter electrode is ideally designed for use with our Standard volume electrochemical cells, but is not limited to use in these cells. Customers who have no desire for the fritted isolation tube should consider this Platinum coil counter electrode.

Platinum wire is fragile. While it can be formed into a shape, repeated bending will cause the wire to break. In almost all cases, this is irreversible and cannot be repaired. Do not bend platinum wire.
Some non-aqueous solvents, such as methylene chloride (DCM) and/or dimethylformamide (DMF), may cause damage, leakage, or swelling to the epoxy tube body of this electrode. We recommend avoiding contact between such solvents and the epoxy body. The Pt coils have no chemical compatibility concerns.
