Precision 15 mm Single RCE Shaft
Part Number
AFE9MBA
This precision shaft accepts 15.0 mm OD cylinder inserts (sold separately) and is usually shipped as part of a larger Rotating Cylinder Electrode (RCE) system. This special shaft is intended for use in conjunction with our gas-purged bearing assembly (part number AC01TPA6M). This bearing assembly is tapered to fit into a standard 24/25 port on an electrochemical cell. The outer diameter of the upper portion of this special shaft is machined to a very high tolerance so that it will mate properly with the inner diameter of our gas-purged bearing assembly. Each shaft is shipped with twenty (20) fluoroelastomer washers which are used to mount and seal the cylinder sample on the shaft. Additional replacement washers are available separately.
Maximum Rotation Rate: 4000 RPM
Never exceed maximum rotation rate when working with rotating electrodes.

Thermal Stability Range: 10°C - 80°C
Electrode damage may occur at temperatures beyond recommended range.

Chemical Compatibility Caution Notice
PEEK dissolves with long exposure to concentrated acids.

Assembly Caution Notice
When changing 15.0 mm OD cylinders on this precision shaft, be very careful not to overtighten the PEEK nut onto the end of the shaft. It should only be finger tight when sealing the cylinder between two fluoroelastomer washers. If the nut on the end is overtightened, the washer may bulge and cause leakage of electrolyte into the stainless steel shaft. This can result in severe corrosion and irreparable damage to the shaft and may also affect electrochemical measurements.

Tip for Cleaning and Storage
Dummy inserts made from PTFE can also be purchased for general cleaning and storage of 15 mm OD RCE shafts.
