Double Junction Silver Chloride Reference Electrode
Part Number
RREF0024
The standard double junction silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode contains two filling solutions: the inner filling solution is 4M KCl with AgCl, while the outer filling solution is composed of 10% KNO3. Only the outer fill solution comes in contact with electrolyte via the ceramic frit at the bottom, allowing Ag/AgCl to be used while avoiding chloride contamination. The outer fill solution may also be drained manually and refilled with a different aqueous solution of the user’s choice. The reference electrode fits through the standard 14/20 ground glass joints found on our standard electrochemical cells. A PTFE sleeve (included) facilitates mounting the reference electrode in the joint.
Compatibility Notice
Avoid using this reference electrode with the following: NH3 buffers, sulfides, perchlorates, non-aqueous/organic solvents, and alkaline solutions stronger than 0.1M OH–.
